Alagoas Trip Report - Feb, 2005

The Seven-colored Tanager

These photographs were all taken on the farm over the period of our stay there. We found the Seven colored in various places on the farm - He was sighted on all of our walks on the trails we are defining.

At this time of year he seems partial to mango - which means that within the past 450 years he has successfully adapted to use this exotic food source.

He also is very partial to the mulungu and the bromeliads found within. He uses the tree for food and shelter and the water found in the bromeliad for bathing and probably drinking.

New Web Site., We are building a more attractive and easier to use site. You are invited to check it out.
